July is a month that is easy to move through quickly.
There are plans, travel, long days that turn into late nights, and moments that blur together in the best way but also the fastest. And yet, when I think about the parts of summer that stay with me, they are rarely the ones I planned.
They are the ones I almost missed: The way the light looked at the end of the day. A table that came together without much effort but felt exactly right. A small moment of connection that was not scheduled but happened anyway.
These are the things that shape my work this time of year.
I pay more attention in July. Not in a forced way. Just enough to notice.
A color combination that I want to remember. A scene that feels like it could become something later. A feeling that I try to hold onto before it disappears.
Most of what I create does not begin in the studio. It begins in moments like this. And then, slowly, it finds its way back.
This is also why I think summer is one of the most important times to stay connected. Not in a formal way. Not in a way that feels like effort, but in small, consistent gestures: a card sent after a visit, a note written just because, a moment acknowledged before it passes.
The Z’Est card collections were created for this exact reason. Not to sit in a box. Not to be saved for the perfect occasion, but to be used. To make it easier to act on the thought when it comes. To turn a passing moment into something that stays.
The Gathering Table, too, continues to evolve in this season. It feels more natural in the summer. More aligned with how people want to live and connect- less structured, more open. More about being part of something than adding something new.
If there is one thing July asks, it is this: Pay attention. Not to everything, just to what you do not want to forget. Because that is where the beauty is. And it does not wait.
